Australia 2027
Trying to gauge participation and ideas for a potential trip overseas... Are you game? The idea comes from wanting some time at sea, aboard the new California Maritime training ship. Currently funded by the federal government as a national security multi mission vessel (NSMV). The US is building one of these for each of the state maritime academies. California is getting the last one and currently scheduled for delivery in 2026.
I propose teaching a class onboard for the students. I was originally offered this position before my accident. This new ship might allow me to make it happen. It has an elevator and accommodations that could make it possible again.
Would you be interested in joining us? The voyage there would potentially take 4-6 weeks with stops at islands in the Pacific. In the past these were Tonga, Marshall Islands, Tahiti, Samoa, Fiji to name a few. Once arriving in Australia, I would like to travel and explore.
I am looking for people to participate. Beyond the obvious help I need, this would be fun for all! You have skills that others might benefit from. Imagine at least a leg of the journey. If necessary changing out mid voyage to fit your schedule. I know it is hard to picture where you might be in another 4 years, but think about it at least.
